Sarah Palin is through politically. Absolutely. Is it because she left office early? Or her maverick status in the GOP?
Nope.
It’s because she didn’t coordinate her decision with her staff, friends, political leaders or the media.
This tells me that she is either incredibly politically uncanny or no longer cares about politics. She has successfully burnt her glacial bridges. Michael Steele states, “he’ll be talking to her very soon.” Translation: he won’t be talking to her very soon.
So, leaders take note: if you’re going to make a big decision which impacts the people around you, coordinate it. Run it by your trusted cabinet and carefully consider their advice. Believe it or not (depending on your ego), there’s a decent chance they’ll improve your decision. Incorporate their buy-in so that when you announce the change, you have immediate and sincere supporters.
If you coordinate beforehand, you’ll show you care about your organization and your people. If you don’t, you’ll look reckless, selfish and..finished.
And you don’t want that, there, now, do ya?
